Career Building

Career Building is a very structured and analytical activity that has a major impact on each childs’ future. The importance of a Counsellor in this journey should not be underestimated. Career Building entails Career Planning and Career Counselling. While Career Planning defines career goals and action plans, Career Counselling targets on realistic action to achieve these plans and goals. Counselling ensures that the student can make an informed decision and thereafter ensure that all their efforts go into translating goals into achievements.

The Career Planning Process can be divided into 4 major steps

 Creating Self Awareness in the child Interests, passions, skills and abilities Strengths & Weaknesses Psychometric analysis in 5 dimensions.

Exploring Careers i.e. What are my career options? Explore from an array of career clusters and career paths in direct consultation with the Career Counsellor

Goal Oriented Career Planning i.e. how to get there? What is my Career Path? Delving deeper into the childs’ meaningful interests Profile building Admission goal preparedness.

MatchMaking! i.e. finding the The Right Fit. Identification of a list of colleges that blend the chosen career path and the students’ profile identified above.

Career Counselling translates each of the above identified steps into goals and action plans. Counselling done gradually all through the high school years and with focus on the child’s profile ensures that kids are really focussed and confident during the application stage. It helps them make an informed career decision and their conviction comes through in their application making it selection worthy!

The crucial junctures of Career Counselling :

Exploratory Stage - Class 8-9

Connect the child to his Passion.

This is the ideal time to start addressing the needs of your child pertaining to building a career. This is the time to explore interests and passions of the child and acquainting them with different careers. 

Action to be taken: Casual conversations and discussions about interests and careers, joining different types of classes to gauge interests.

Get-Set Stage - Class 10

The student literally needs this time to ‘Get-set’’. It includes Stream Selection based on above exploratory actions and ensures academic success in the subsequent years.

Action to be taken: Stream/Subject Selection to embark on the journey towards your prospective career. Start Career/College research. Start building your college list by program or by country.

Preparatory Stage - Class 11

During this stage the student begins preparation for his career choice. Starts focussing on University applications and how to meet admission prerequisites. 

Action to be taken: Preparation for Standardised testing such as SAT, IELTS, GMAT, JEE, NEET, CLAT and other entrance exams. Take the possible tests. Work on Profile strengthening with your Career Counsellor based on the admission goal. Continue career/college research. Start building your college list by program or by country.

Application Stage - Class 12

The Application Stage : Complete Standardised testing, Create your pitch to the university through the Profile, Write you Statements of Purpose/Mission Statement/Essays. Put together all documentation such as a Resume, LORs, Predicted scores, etc. for the College Application. 

Action to be taken: Apply to your target colleges and complete standardised test requirements. Receive offers. Accept your dream offer and prepare to take off!
